From the New York City & Metropolitan Area
Take the NY Thruway to Albany, then Route 87, The Northway, to Exit 30, The Keenes & Route 73 Take Route 73 West through Keene Valley & Keene. You can then skip the often congested village of Lake Placid by staying left at the fork a few miles prior to Lake Placid marked Old Military Road and which dead ends at Route 86. Turn left onto 86 West toward Saranac Lake. In Saranac Lake, Route 86 runs into Route 3 at the first light. Continue to the second light where Route 3 West heads straight toward Tupper Lake. For 15 miles you will be "doing" the Saranacs, crossing through one of the most renowned canoe routes in the Adirondacks. You're getting warm when you pass Cold River Ranch on the left and County Road 45 on the right. (County Road 45 had the name "Panther Mountain Road until it was recently eliminated to support the 911 system.) We don't recommend taking County Road 45 (Panther Mountain Road) the first time. Continue on Route 3 passing around Panther Mountain Road to the intersection at the junction with Route 30 North and turn right onto it. On many maps it reads "Wawbeek Corners." Just over a mile and after a big curve in the road, our large picturesque signs appear on the right. The Wawbeek driveway is long and winds through the woods. We look forward to welcoming you in the office, located in Lake House Lodge just up the rise after passing Carriage House.

Basically Route 3 toward Tupper Lake to Route 30 North will do it! More thoroughly detailed- leave Plattsburgh on Route 3 and travel on Route 3 West/Southwest all the way to Saranac Lake and through Saranac Lake to a dead end and traffic light at Lake Flower. Turn right at this junction, still on Route 3, and proceed to the next light which is at the corner where the landmark brick Town Hall with a clock tower is visible as well as a bridge directly across the way. Proceed straight, crossing the bridge and still on Route 3. From this Town Hall corner, it is exactly 15 miles on Route 3 heading West toward Tupper Lake to the right-hand-only turn onto Route 30 North. The signs will read "Malone, Airport, Saranac Inn," and Route 30 North. Turn right here and proceed a little over one mile to the great big and colorful signs reading "The Wawbeek on Upper Saranac Lake" on the right. This is our drive, which is about one quarter mile. When you reach the "Welcome" sign, you are here and welcome!
