Welcome...

The Wawbeek is a turn of the century Great Camp set on a sprawl of forty acres extending from dense woods to a glade of giant hemlocks, from a wildflower field to lawns and a lovely beach and bay, from bike and cross-country ski trails to a nature trail which meanders for a quarter mile along our shoreline with paths to the restaurant, Carriage House and beach. Two of our original Great Camp buildings, Mountain House Lodge and the Wawbeek Restaurant, are perched high on a rock promontory overlooking Upper Saranac Lake and the mountains beyond. Several Cabins and a cottage overlook the beach and bay; and still others are nestled in cozy corners with lawns and paths connecting them to the fray.
Wawbeek hospitality year-round is in the Adirondack tradition: welcoming, comfortable and catering to the need for restoring the soul and regaining the balance of life...to breathe the balsamic air and smell the woods, to paddle and swim the waters, to glide or clomp across the snow, to loaf, read and sleep, to walk, hike, and explore. And, of course, to dine at your leisure.

The Mountain House
The Mountain House is a beautiful turn-of-the-century “Great Camp” lodge with original knotty-pine paneling throughout; perfect for family gatherings - with large doubledeck porches and commanding lake and mountain views. A massive stone fireplace is the centerpiece of the Adirondack great room.

Bedroom
Mountain house has a full but modest-in-size kitchen with a dining area in the Adirondack great room. There are six bedrooms, each with full bath including one bedroom with a pullout sofa, which also serves as a den. As an added bonus, there is also a clothes washer and dryer.

The Lake House Lodge
The Wawbeek’s new Lake House Lodge offers cozy rooms with fireplaces. The eight gracious and comfortable Lodge rooms each have a deck and views of the lake and mountains. Seven rooms have king-sized beds that are convertible to twin beds and one equally gracious is handicap accessible with a queen-sized bed and pullout sofa.

Two of the rooms on the first floor can be connected to a large suite room, one with a king-sized convertible to twin beds and the other with a queen-sized pullout sofa and two gateleg tables which, when Lake House is booked in its entirety, convert the room for dining.

The Carriage House
The Carriage House has three large comfortable rooms each with private entrance and full bath. Room One has a king-sized bed and queen-sized pullout sofa, deck and view of the bay. Room Two has two queen-sized beds, sitting area and deck with views. Room Three has a king-sized bed and queen-sized pullout sofa and can be made to connect to Room Two, and is handicap equipped.

The Dining Room
Renowned in the North Country for its setting and cuisine, The Wawbeek Restaurant sits on a rock promontory overlooking Upper Saranac Lake and the high peaks. The original “eating cabin” of its Great Camp owner/builder, its architecture alone is well worth the trip!

Dining with a view
